ScreenSkills is the industry-led skills body for the UK’s screen industries – film, television (high-end, children’s, unscripted), VFX, animation and games. We are supporting economic recovery and future innovation and growth across the whole of the UK by investing in the skilled and inclusive workforce who are critical to the global success of the screen sector.


We are funded by industry contributions to our Skills Funds and with National Lottery funds awarded by the BFI as part of its Future Film Skills strategy to help people get into the industry and progress within it.


The Animation Production Liaison Executive works closely with industry and to identify priorities for the sector, develop strategies and training solutions and to demonstrate impact. The role also involves promotion of the Animation Skills Fund with the aim of increasing investment and engagement with the Fund and its aims and objectives.


Key responsibilities:

Support industry led Council and working groups to define delivery priorities, transforming agreed activity into training tenders, through to commissioning successful skills activity.
With the Head of Film and Animation, develop a UK wide Animation strategy, supported by investment strategies and priorities based on labour market information
Develop solutions in response to critical skills challenges working with industry partners and colleagues across the organisation including comms & digital, careers, film etc.
Promote the Animation Skills Fund and encourage all eligible companies to contribute and access the benefits that it provides.
Oversee the budgeting of the Fund, its allocation against industry training priorities, and its cashflow with the support of the ScreenSkills colleagues and approval by the Council.
Use data provided by the BFI to demonstrate levels of engagement with those accessing the tax credit
Manage new entrant and CPD commissioning for Animation and day to day relationship with training providers and grant recipients across the identified skills programme and ensure all deliverables are met.
Manage the Animation Trainee Finder programme, with the support of the Film and Animation Administrator, including marketing, recruitment, management of the new entrant cohort including induction training, and liaison with production companies to secure placements.
Create all training tender documents for the Animation Skills Fund, and lead on internal liaison with the finance and fund teams to ensure contracts are issued timely and payment schedules are on track.
Develop relationships with new training partners particularly those with, or with access to, trainer-practitioners with current industry experience.
Provide written assessments for all Animation training applications received and make informed recommendations.
Assess Animation bursary applications.
Work with the Film and Animation Administrator on management of the Fund, including tracking production contributions and promotion of their support.
Ensure all contracts and required paperwork from training providers are comprehensive and obtained in a timely manner.
Ensure any opportunities to collaborate with skills activity across the Company or share resources are explored.
Work with research and evaluation team to support collection and interpretation of formal and informal labour market information to identify critical skills needs, monitor trends and evaluate impact of interventions.
Draft industry council/working group papers as appropriate and provide regular progress reports in relation to the Animation Skills Funds.
Act as an advocate for ScreenSkills, market and promote ScreenSkills products and services to industry, education and policy stakeholders, and provide an excellent service to internal and external customers.
Work related experience:



  • Experience and knowledge of the Animation industry including production needs and timescales.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain partnerships and relationships
  • Outstanding communication, organisational, planning and execution skills.
