We are news, debate, entertainment and human interest – a double shot of espresso to help you start your day.

An integral part of our 24-hour operation is the News Features team who shape the programme’s daily debates whilst also building award winning campaigns highlighting the social issues affecting people across the UK and beyond.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced journalist to join the News Features team as Senior Producer, bringing passion and creativity to the planning of our debates and discussions, while also contributing to the development and delivery of our award winning campaigns.

You will work alongside the Head and Deputy of the department to make sure GMB is leading the agenda as well as managing the day to day workflow of the team. This is a chance for an emerging talent to make their mark on one of the most exciting shows on television.

Some key responsibilities:

  • Planning, pitching and executing debates and panels, working with the News Features team to create and curate agenda setting and compelling topics of discussion.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of eye-catching and exciting campaigns for GMB.
  • Helping GMB to improve representation of Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority contributors.
  • Representing the News Features team at day ahead and weekly planning meetings.
  • Integrating with the wider GMB team delivering the demands of the programme accordingly.
  • Assisting with the ongoing development of the News Features team.
  • Developing and expanding on external contacts to bring in stories and guests.

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following

skills / experience:

  • An experienced television producer and journalist who is able to demonstrate excellent news judgement with an eye for spotting and creating agenda setting issues, conversations and debates.
  • Experience producing live set piece television events and working with on screen talent.
  • Capable of managing several projects simultaneously as well as delegating effectively to producers on the News Features team.
  • Excellent reputation within the industry, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships and contacts.
  • Thorough working knowledge of OFCOM regulation, duty of care, legal and compliance issues.
  • Ability to work alone as well as alongside the News Features team.
  • Leadership experience, either formal or informal is desired.
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to maintain stakeholder and contributor relationships.
  • Good team player, encouraging participation from others, driving passion and creativity.
  • Adaptable and flexible to change.
